Meet Bobby

Originally from San Francisco, California, Bobby Gehlen is a Dupont Award Winning and Emmy nominated videographer and photographer.

Graduating from the University of Colorado in 2018 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science, Bobby has established a career at ABC News covering human-interest stories, as well as domestic affairs and U.S. politics.

His comprehensive skillset has taken him across the country, from the history of bounce rap in New Orleans, to the heart of the opioid crisis on the streets of Kensington, Pennsylvania. With an aptitude for thoughtful and versatile storytelling he was tapped to cover the loss and grief that Uvalde, Texas grappled with following one of the worst mass shootings in the country’s history, and documented the profound impact that the overturning of Roe v. Wade would have on the last abortion clinic in Mississippi.

Following these stories from pitch to air, Bobby uses his creative ability and journalistic experience to tell truly compelling stories on some of the country’s most pressing issues.

Over the past five years, his work has been featured on Hulu, Good Morning America, World News Tonight, Nightline, and ABC News Live Prime, among other ABC platforms. The dedication of he and his team has garnered recognition from a wide range of organizations and companies, including the White House News Photographers Association, Edward R.
